Release Strategy for Preq

Hi SAPgurus...

I have release strategy implemented in my system with 7 level approvals for the Pur. Req . Now i need to Change the release strategy to 4 levels approval based on one of the Characterstics that is the Preq Net Price. Which cud be the best process to ahcieve it , since if i am going to keep the old one and create a new one then wheneve similar characterstics appear the system cant recognize which strategy to apply.......

Please can any one advice me how can i approach ...

If you have the old strategy in place, you have to use all the characteristics since you are allowed only one class for release (actually, one class for overall release and one class for item level). So you cannot have release strategies based on different characteristics.

So better solution would be to modify the current release strategy. Considerable effort will be required for this (as compared to creating a new one) but maintenance and error analysis (in case release is not picked) will be easier.

From ur statements i understand to modify the existing ones , okie as u said i will delete the extra release codes and modify it . Now fine..

What happens when i moved to prodcution these changes then, say if i have Preq

with older version of release strategy how it impacts.....How i can handle this in

effective manner...To my knowledge i think whenever if i go for a change in preq the new release strategy will be affected....( In this case its fine) what abt the ones which doesnt need a change and has to be released....

As you said,New changes will be affected for the new PR's.You will not encounter any issue with the existing one.Also you do it manually in production also.Because classes and characteristics will not be transported with your release strategy.Anything after 4.6C version no issues.

Hi,

let the old ones as it is,if you change any thing then new strategy will pick.

even you can do one thing in CL24N make all the existing release strategies status to incomplete(3) then create the new strategies how ever you wnat.then the new strategy will be there for new PR and when ever old changes then new will pick.

even keep the pld release codes in the authorisation for unreleasing purpose.

every thing will be fine.

i just completed the issue same like this in my project for PR and PO

My version is 4.6C ...Is it Fine??? ( Since u mentioned After 4.6C).

U created new Strategy or u modified the existing ones???(Please Clarify )

So from ur ans i see that u ask me to create new strategy and keep it

ready and later on when it is effective i can change the old strategy to 3 so that

new one picks Up......

Hi,

you want go with the old release Strategy, delete those 3 levels of approvals( not required).

other wise, you go with the new release procedure. New release procedure will be the best.

If you want to change the level for the same characteristics of your previous onene and delete 3 levels in your old strategy itself.You can leave the release codes as it is.
