Increase the parallel processing during extraction

How can we " Increase the parallel processing during extraction " .

We need this as we are facing with the problem of long running hierarchy loads.

Please give inputs on this issue as we are our "Master data loads Process Chains" have been running for more than 6 hours.

    Hi Venkat,

You can increase the number of parallel processors by maintaining the following setting.

Go to SBIW -> General Setting -> Maintain control parameters for data transfer

In this setting 'Max. proc' field contains maximum no of work processors to be used. Hope this helps.

    Regards,

    Sumit

In SE11-> Table-> ROIDOCPRMS. This table is to view Maximum number of parallel processes for data transfer.

The HP document that SAP_learner provides a really good BW performance article. They are talking about a Windows environment, but much is applicable to other platforms.

You don't say what version you are on, with 7.0 the Batch Manager can control a number of parallel options - tran RSBATCH.

You really need to identify which loads are running long - no point in throwing parallel processing at small loads - could actually be counter productive. Then review the detail in the Load Monitor - is it the extraction that is running poor, the trans/update rules, or the actual load. Or is Change run the culprit.

You don't say anything about how many master data loads you run concurrently. Rather than trying to using parallel processing, is there any reason you can not run more concurrently. In some of my MD process chains, I load a dozen MD objects concurrently. I think that is a better approach and probably provides you better control over resource consumption, on both the BW and R3 sides..
