Inventory reload through Mirror system

We are reloading Inventory data from R/3 . We want to minimize the downtime and are creating a mirror copy of R/3 Production. Pls advice on the various steps that I need to take in this case. I have gone through the document on "How to minimize downtime during delta init". I need tips and word of caution from people who have actually dealt with this situation.

Also if there is any other way to reinit 2LIS_03 datasources without the downtime. I read somewhere we can use early delta init or we can first do a init without data transfer and then do a full repair .

I am not sure which is the right approach. Pls advice
