Let me give you the solution I am thinking..

Create a Production BOM. Parent Item B, Child Item A.

In BOM definition Change Quantity for B to 30.

For Child Item A, change quantity to 1 Kg or 1000 Gms (I would say 1000 gms would be better especially for scrap calculations)

Process the Production Order .. Release Components.. Issue Components and Complete the Production Order. After Production Complete. On the Receipt from Production Screen, Click Return Components. This would show all completed Prod Orders.

Select the Prod Order for B and you will see the screen Select Items to Copy showing the component Item A. Select this and change the Quantity to 0.5 or 500 gms.

Open the Production Order and Click Cancel. This will automatically create the necessary JE for the Scrap.
