Upgrading R/3 SAP release 4.70 ext 1.1 to ext 2.0

Hi all,

Currently i got this task to upgrade the R/3 SAP system release 4.70 extension 1.1 to R/3 SAP system release 4.70 extension 2.0.

1) What is the details step by step should i do to upgrade?

2) Do i need to shutdown the system and the database for upgrade?

3) What is the possible problems that i will be mostly face?

    Hi,

    The main point to understand is that it is a REAL upgrade using R3UP.

    It is so a major project and needs a lot of runtime (depending from the database size).

    In fact, I think that SAP should have called R/3 4.70 ext 2.00 --> R/3 4.80 because it is really an other release and not an upgrade of an add-on or plug-in.

    As with any R3UP upgrade you will have some down time.

    You have to practice the upgrade at least once (we did it 3 times) on a test system which is a fresh database copy from the production system.

    You have to do a lot of functional non regression tests.

    The amount of testing and difficulty is completely specific of your specific R/3 usage in YOUR company.

    1. Please follow the installation guide>> service.sap.com/installation

    2. you dont need shutdown database or sap

    3. It depends, you might not get any error or might get many. depends..

    Hi Jerry,

    1. Follow install guide.

    2. Do your own research in SDN for documents related to your upgrade

    3. Make sure you read the Notes mentioned in the install guide and other documents you might find in SDN

    4. Discuss with your functional team regarding the changes that will take place after the upgrade

    5. Take a Full backup of your current system, in case you need restore it.

    Hi The benefits of upgrading from 4.7 Ext 1.1 to ext 2.0 are not big. If you are going to perform the upgrade process then upgrade to ECC6. Almost the same amount of effort
