Check out OSS note 682619. It should point you to Adobe document service configuration guide (PDF). I think you will need to be at stack level 9 in addition to HRSP 18 (for ECC 60) as a pre-requisite . Once all are configured / ADS server available, tax forms (including W2) will be diplayed/printed in PDF format.

Hi Ted,

the basis has set up the ADS, and the client wants me to test if its working.

but the thing is half the work(on w2 generation) was done by a person who's not here right now and im going to have to take it over from where he left, but im not sure how to navigate back thru his work like find out how many ppl's w2s were generated and start from there coz there's no documentation of any kind...appreciate your suggestion ..

thanks a lot

Go to 'PU19', key in tax company, period end date, consider proll result up to dates - click on Annual - W2 , then click on 'Log Manager' button. It should list all the runs with run info (for which ee) including those run by the other person you take over from.

Hi Ted,Somar

we have HRSP 21 and i've checked the level. we do have 9.

the client is expecting to go live by the end of this year. i've checked the table V_T5UX7, it shows sapscript radio button active for the W2s (valid from 01/01/1995 thru 12/31/2000). I havent worked on W2 before, so i'd really appreciate any guidance on how to proceed with the configuration.

thanks everybody

In ECC 60, most of the tax forms along with other reports (e.g. EEO report) are configured to send output to PDF instead of SAP SCRIPTs as default config.

As mentioned in earlier post, in order to send output to PDF (Adobe), Basis will need to be involved to set up ADS, connection, ... prior to output can be sent to (even for display).

For configuring W2 (i.e. which wages go to what boxes, ...), if you go into IMG (under Payroll US - Tax Reporter) and follow the config steps in it (along with SAP help), it's pretty self-explanatory.

If you don't have ADS (Adobe Server) ready yet, you may want to temporary change config for tax forms to use SAP SCRIPT instead to make sure W2 is correct, and switch this back to ADS once it's ready.

Hi,

I dont understand what specific you are looking into W2 config.

But first you need to identify which wage type needs to appear on the W2 forms and make the arrangement of mapping those wage types into it. In Tax reporter IMG you can map all this wage types to Tax form groups and then to Tax form fields. SAP Tax reporter is Standard which is used by most of the clients.

Let me know.

Ted is right, for PDF forms java stack must be applied first (Consult you basis expert).

Also, you can continue to use SAPScript with the following modifications.

In table V_T5UX7 all standard forms (delivered by SAP), the validity date is set so that SAPScript output is generated until 12/31/2004; PDF output is generated from 01/01/2005.

- Identify W2 forms you use.

- Delimit PDF forms to past dates,

- Delimit sapscript forms to current (eg: 01/01/2000 - 12/31/9999)

Somar
