Hi forum,

I would like to use a backup software (in this case NetVault) but without its specific agent for SAP/Oracle. 1,5 TB database on a 40 LTO cartridge.

We havent enough space for a brbackup of filesystem.

Have you any idea ?

Regards.

Ganimede Dignan.

You can do offline backups only, for online backup you need an interface, that is supported (like backint) - and therewith an agent.

Is it possibile on-line backup with BRTOOLS with disk/stager (a large path on filesystem) as target ?

I think, yes.

Hi,

Yes.

In your init<SID>.sap file point these parameters to your disk/filesystem location (where you want to backup your DB files to):

backup_root_dir = /dest_directory

compress_dir = /dest_directory

archive_copy_dir = /dest_directory

compress = yes

Are you saying you would like to manually specify the Oracle datafiles that need to be backed up?

You would just need to put the DB in hot mode before copying the datafiles and then take it out of hotmode once the copy completed.

Post back if you have specific questions or need clarification.
