Hi,

Is there any specific advantage of using the FM hr_infotype_operation

when we can also go for session input or call transaction method of bdc.

Is this a kinda direct input . if yes what r the adv and disadv of using

this function module .

Thanks in advance.

Think of it like using a BAPI. Sometimes in a program flow it is inconvenient to leave the current program flow, do a BDC session on an employee. come back to main program, check status of the BDC then do something depending on the status of BDC etc.... Easier way to call the FM hr_infotype_operation then check export parameter RETURN & KEY just like you would do in a BAPI.

All the validation (employee) checks are the same compared to the screen creation (BDC). Advantage is the its easier to use and you can process one employee at a time (for e.g. in a loop). Point to remember when using this FM that the database update actually takes place using a 'Call Dialog' from the module pool of the infotype requested.

    Cheers,

    Sougata.
