SPRO Customizing for Busness Partner creation screen

Hi All,

Just a quick question about customizing the create Person screen within the BP transaction. At the moment the create Person screen is set up such that the First name and Last name are both mandatory fields.

I went into SPRO and checked the field grouping for these fields.

Apparently, there's only one table entry for both. So i can either mark both as mandatory or not req etc etc..at the moment its like they are one field.

Is there a way to change this in SPRO, such that both fields are individal again. I want the First Name non mandatory and the Last name as mandatory.

Is this a config based issue or are we looking at coding some changes here?

Any help will be much appreciated and rewarded.

Regards,

Preethi

    Yes,

    This is possible I think.

    Use transaction Code <b>BUPT</b>.

This brings you to the “business Partner” related configuration settings.

    Now select the following:

    Business partner>>Control>>Screen Layout>> Field Groups.

Is the same as using <b>transaction code BUS2.</b>

The relevant Field group in your case is 25: Person: First Name, Last Name

At this level you actually define FIELD Groups, which later on can be used in customizing to determine for example the aspects such as:

Hide/display options, Mandatory field or not….

    <b>IMG>>SAP Business Partner>>Basic Settings>>Field Groupings>>Configure Field Groupings per BP role…</b>

    Hope this helps

By the Way...In BUS2 transaction and after selecting the Field Group 25, you will see that two fields are assigned to this field group:

      BUT000 NAME_FIRST

      BUT000 NAME_LAST

On this level you can specifically define settings such as Input Field AND if it can be a Required Field or not.

Below you find the explanation about this Flag option.

So in your case you need to Flag the field that you DO NOT want to be mandatory.

Next, in customizing you flag the field group as Mandatory. IMG>>SAP Business <b>Partner>>Basic Settings>>Field Groupings>>Configure Field Groupings per BP role…</b>

This should lead to one field being mandatory, and the other NOT.

      -

      Field Cannot Become Required Field

Input fields for which this indicator is set are never mandatory.

If a field group is set to mandatory input, you only have to make an entry in the input fields for which this indicator is not set.
