Creation and deletion of indexes on InfoCubes

Hello Bwers,

Can we check manually in an InfoCube....how much time it takes to delete and create indexes? If yes please tell me how. Thanks.

Hi,

The deletion and creation of index would depend on the volume of data in the cube.

However based on my experience it should not take much time, it should get over in few minutes.

To delete or create index right click on cube --> manage --> Performance tab --> In the index you have option to delete and create index

you have options to do it either in foreground or in background(Batch)

Assign points if useful

Hi

you could schedule the job for creation and deletion of index as a background job and check the duration in SM37. or you could set it up in a process chain and see there also

It would also have a dependency if the cube was partitioned or not and accordingly create the necessary indices...
