Controlling Area Merger

Hi Experts,

We have a client requirement of merging the multiple controlling area with one. Please refer the below mentioned points.

1. There are some 30 plus company codes with different controlling areas. The currency for these company codes are different but fiscal year variant is same and chart of accounts is same. Client wants to merge all other controlling areas to a single controlling area.

2. They want all the historical data to be carried forward to the new controlling area and should be there in the data base unharmed.

Now we are in the impact analysis phase from FI and CO perspective.

Please help me with the possible impacts from FI perspective, including the cut over aspect.

why client wants to merge all the company code under one controlling area?

what will be controlling area and operating concern currency? this activity will have a huge impact on master data and transactional data that you want to upload in new scenario.

Hi,

That's a heck of a project, but possible in theory. Basically, you would need to execute a huge migration activity.

The question is what are the gains of this merge compared to the costs, which will be significant.
