Significance of Info Sources in BI7

What is the significance of Info Sources in BI7 when we use Transformation concept?

1. I went through http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/f8/7913426e48db2ce10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm , but in what practical scenario would it be required? Any examples?

2. Especially in the third case, it would be possible to directly connect the lower InfoSource to both InfoProviders using different transformations? In which case would an approach as suggested in the help file be preferable?

3. Also, as per the help file, we can create a transform like this:

Info Source -

---

(transform)----

---

> Info Provider

But when I tried to create such a transformation on my server, I'm getting an error saying that the transformation does not exist.

I'm sorry, I actually gave the wrong link there. I had earlier gone through the link you gave, but I could not understand the practical scenario in which it is useful.

My questions pertained to the page whose link you posted... by mistake I had pasted the wrong link
