Reassign licenses automatically

I was wondering if there is a method to automatically assign and reassign professional Licenses with SBO? Customer is curious since only 50% of their staff will be using a license at any one time.

Singapore users use SAP B1 when no USA users will be using SAP B1. This would allow the US user licenses to be ‘re-assigned’ to Singpore users. Then, at 7:00am PST the licenses would be reassigned back to the US users.

This can be done manually of course but we were wondering if this could be automated

Thanks

Hector

Licenses can only be assigned manually. Unfortunately there is NO AUTOMATIC way of doing it.

      Hi,

I also personally know no automatic way by using B1 tools.

From my understanding, all the licenses are managed by the license service (B1Lic2005 service, from the system point of view) which, when is started take it's configuration from the B1Upf.xml file.

Since the modification can be done manually, I can give points to achieve it.

What I would do, is to have two configuration files: one with the Singapore users active and one for the USA users. Both files would exist with different extensions (i.e.; .usr). On given times, I would schedule a cmd file (or whatever else you prefer) to do the following:

      - Stop the license service (NET STOP B1Lic2005 from the command line),

      - Copy the right configuration file to replace the B1Upf.xml,

      - Restart the license service (NET START B1Lic2005).

This will easily do the job.

Take into account, that if you add/delete users, you'll have to modify the saved configuration files. Also, if you change the licensed add-ons installed.

      Regards,

      Eric
