Hi,
I am trying to upload BPs using ELM from an external (CSV format) file. I have created the necessary mapping but while creating external list I am getting following message and system dose not allow me to go ahead. Can somebody explain this error and how to resolve it? Dose anybody have a step by step guide for ELM? Pl share

Hello Ambar,
this looks like a wrong customizing entry maintained in the IMG under
System Administration->Platform Independent File Names
->Cross client Maintenance of File name and Paths.
You can directly jump to this IMG if you open the
IMG document of the "Maintain File path" activity under
Customer Relationship Managment->Marketing->External List Management
and follow the link mentioned in the IMG document of this activity.
This will open a view,
Select the logical file path MARKETING_FILES and
select the Assignment of physical paths option
from the tree in the left side of the view.
Now you would see 2 entries Unix and Windows NT.
The customer system is in Windows NT
and hence double click on the entry.
You can see the physical path maintained
as "<P=DIR_GLOBAL>\MARKETING_FILES\<FILENAME>"
which means there should be a folder called
MARKETING_FILES existing under
the DIR_GLOBAL directory.But there is no such
folder which exists.You can check that via tx AL11.
There are two possibilities to fix this problem.
-)change this physical path
to <P=DIR_GLOBAL>\<FILENAME> or
-)create a folder MARKETING_FILES under the DIR_GLOBAL directory.

You were correct. I have setup the directory and maintained the path too. The problem of uploading of the file is over. Thank you very much providing correct solution.
Eventhough upload is not a problem now the system is showing error (red) flag on mapping. I am using following fields for uploading. The error messager I am getting for the first field is "Business Partner <no I have mentioned in external csv file> does not exist"

Can u pl guide where I am going wrong? The numbers series I am using is for creation of consumers (having ext number range assigned) and the numbers assigned in the CSV file are higher than the last number in CRM system.
