Hi gurus,

pls tell me

"in real time who will be creating the GL masters, customer, vendor, asset masters & primary and secondary cost elements, cost centers, orders, etc. Is it a consultant's work or client's ( core team members) work?"

hi,

during implementation consultants will create the gl accounts as per business process of the clients company and as per requirement of the client.

after implementation- during day to day operational entries,whatever g l accounts clients/end users required to maintained they inform to the power users(support consultants) in writing afterthat power user can create the new gl account.

GL's are part of the set up as well as the Cost Elements.

So during the implementation stage a Chart of Accounts is defined and then created in SAP.

Following from this you can automatically create primary cost elements.

Customer and Vendor masters would also be created in the implementation stage, via data migration.

However on going this would be maintained by the business.

Please remember Sox issues and Segregation of Duties.

Hi,

In most of the projects consultants only create G/L, Customer, Vendors, Asset master records. we need to takecare at the time of master data creation, otherwisse it creates problem. for eg; without reconciliation account we are unable to create vendor, customer, asset master records. like at the time of vendor or customer master creation bank master data is required. Generally master data is created through LSMW or BDC.

i think generally master data's are updated from legacy system, they are not configured, this is what i believe. if i am wrong please correct me

Hi

In real time : At the time of intial implementation all master datas created by the Consultants only - this will be done based on the discussion with the client and based on different scenarios in the particular business.This is done based on the requirements given by the client - client provides the data based on the layout defined by the consultant.

At the time of Rollout also, consultant creates the master data copying & extending the master data to new company code / plant.

After that - creation process of master data lies with few people only like power users - other users'll not hv authorisation to create the master data.
