Export Crystal report to PDF

Hi Experts,

We are currently working on developing crystal report 2016 in SAP business objects 4.2 SP3 installed on windows Server 2012 R2 .

The crystal reports are based on stored procedure in IBM DB2. We have been able to Generate a crystal report based on Dynamic prompts which are the input to the Store Procedure .

We are using the open document library to call the crystal report directly and we are able to generate a PDF output that can be viewed in the Browser. So far we have created an Open doc Url to include Logon token and used 'sRefresh' for auto refresh functionality

The aim is to have an 'Auto- Download' for this PDF output which can then be Pushed to a central location (FTP/Shared Drive).

Is there a Possibility to pass a particular parameter in the open doc Url itself to be able to auto download the PDF output.

Please provide your inputs on the feasibility and approach for the above mentioned requirement.

Thanks in advance

best way is to schedule the report to your desired location (FTP/Shared Drive)

    • Hi Praveen,

Thanks for your answer scheduling a report is a good solution but it will not help me . As the reports is web based and outside users can access them any time from any location and that why we are using OPEN DOC URL ..

      Ques was

// We are using the open document to call the crystal report directly and we are able to generate a PDF output that can be viewed in the Browser //

Let me elaborate my quest more

I have a link on which if user click from any location that link will open a report in PDF and then we can download it manually.

Now what i did is i made some setting in my machine Chrome browser so instead of opening the report in browser it will directly downloading in my machine . But this is not best solution and limited to myself only.

CAN we add something in our link by which we can directly download the report in PDF format and that too on BO server not on clients machine ? (Means if the user is at any location and if he hits that link the report get auto downloaded into our SAP BO Server C: derive) not on client machine.

      Check the Link url.txt

To do this you will probably have to use the full version of the SDK (Java or .NET) instead of OpenDocument. Within that there is method to directly export the report to a file and you can have the user specify where the file will go.
