Dear guru ,
in ME1N i try to create a po from a purchase requisition for a subcontracting item. This pr is linked to a production order with an external operation. No component
is linked to the external operation. I insert directly the component in production order and i link this component to the external operation. The purchase requisition have now this component.
If i try to create a po from this pr the system send this error message : Not possible to determine any components'.
But pr have one component , bom is mandatory for this management ?
Regards.
I have a production order, I use the subcontract order to buy the service for a specific operation of the production order and i use the components in the subcontract order for creating the outbound delivery to the subcontractor.
I repeat the system don't allow the insert of component directly in po or in pr avoiding the bom.

But the system don't allow this , even i insert the component the system want
the bom.

Please clarify: for what reason do you need the production order, if you want the components as part in the subcontract PO?
You either have a full qualified subcontract PO then you have can have components in the PO and you consume them when doing a goods reciept to the PO. Or you have a production order, and you just use the subcontract order to buy the service. and you consume the components in your production order.
Hi,
If PR is comingout of a production order for external operation, you don't need to mention component in it...SAP creates its own description in its component and routes as a S/C PR to MM. Some how, issue seems to be confusing rather than a real issue....Please explain step by step clearly. In my knowledge (long ago worked though) this part of SAP works perfectly without any user involvement required.....Moreover, PO never stops you if a BOM is not defined for a subcontracting material, you can still add components as you wish in its components view (from material data tab in item details--> click bom components icon....add the components as you wish, by accessing collective over view screen...(forgot exact name of push button)
Regards
If you are working with ECC 5.0 or higher version then you will have this error eventhough you have defined the component
The reason is system is check the avilability of BOM on the date based on the planned delivery time defined in material master
that means if you defined 10 days is oyur pln del time in mateiral master and you have created the BOM today, in this case system is check the date of BOM = todays' date - 10 and at this time your BOM wasn;t exist
so just make the pla del time in mateiral zero of wait till 10 days before you create PO.

If you need this component for a subcontract business, then you must not create a subcontract purchase order. You just create a standard purchase order to purchase the component. No item category L, just blank.
The subcontract PO is used to order the finished product, and has components to built this finish product.
In case or production process with external operation, you just have the service (cost to manufacture) as item in the PO. No component, as this is issued to the production order.
