Extraction of R3 data to BI7

Hi gurus,

Can anybody suggest me about real time experience when we extracting data from R3 (various modules) in to BI7 and then report.

If you take one example of any your previous experience it would be more appreciated.

It would be more helpfull if your replies with your own words instead of sending links.

Thanks and points will be assigned for your valuable answers.

Shrinu

    Step 1:

Extracting data from an SAP source system into SAP BW consists of triggering an InfoPackage from BW. IDocs are used for the data interchange between SAP systems as well as between an SAP system and an external system. This generates another IDoc in the source system that receives the information from BW .Once the system processes this IDoc, the extraction job is triggered in the online transactional processing (OLTP) system

    Step 2:

You can use ALE message types during delta updates to capture changes and new records for R/3 master data tables and also the tables that log changes in change document history. Go to transaction code WE81 to create the ALE message type. Activate the change pointers to fields for which delta changes are to be captured. Create a new entry by entering the appropriate message type, change document object, and table and field names.

    Step 3:

Characteristics of objects in the classification system are similar to Info Object attributes in BW, so you can use the classification system to supply your BW system with Info Object attributes. To create a Data Source for classification data, first use transaction SBIW and follow menu path Data Transfer to the SAP Business Information Warehouse>Settings for Application Specific Data Sources (PI)>Cross-Application Components>Classification System>Maintain Data Sources for Classification Data

    Step 4:

Initialization is the process of preparing a BW system before performing delta update loads from the transactional system. BW processes data requests as an initial load, a delta load, or a full data load. Our approach allows the initialization of an attached BW system without requiring a transactional system outage and without affecting any other existing BW systems currently drawing data from the same transactional system.

    Hope it Hepls!!!

    Hi Shrinu

For extracting data from R/3 system first create generic data source for master data tables and transaction tables at R/3 side by using T code RSO2.then create a source system at BW side ... you have to create info objects and infosources at BI side.. extract data from R/3 system.

Now you can map R/3 tables with your own created info objects.

If you need further help then answer.

    Thanks & Regards
