plug-in reversible or not

Hi There

During the upgrade of plug-in for the PI_BASIS and PI in our 4.7 SAP system with HPUX and Oracle, I was able to update the plug-in PI_BASIS to 2005_1_620, however when I tried to update PI to 2004_1_470 I got the message

"OCS component does not match the current software component vector"

Then after redaing through teh Notes I found PI_BASIS 2005_1_620 can only be used with PI 2003_1_470 or higher but currently we are on PI 2002_1_470.

I guess plug-ins are not reversible so I am thinking a restore from backup will be the only option, after which I can start from scratch. Can anyone comment on this, as to if there is any other option.

Thanks

Vic

Patches are not reversible...you'll need to restore from backup to return the previous PI_BASIS patch level.

Now, why don't you upgrade your PI to 2003_1_470 or higher and avoid the restore?

anything that goes into SAP via SPAM/SAINT (and you confirm the entry) is not reversible.

there have been instances where SAP would login into your system and revert back changes only in cases where your SPAM / SAINT had terminated with errors and had left the system unusable.

The bottomline is that , if you are putting something via SPAM/SAINT, make sure you have a complete database backup done before starting the patching.
