IQ 16 upgrade on Suse

We are trying to upgrade an IQ 12.7 running on Redhat 5.5 to IQ16SP11 and move it to SuSE 11SP3. We copied all dbspaces on the same paths but iqunload fails with a message saying

***** SQL error: Unable to start database server

I checked also with IQ 15.4 and the message is

***** SQL error: Not enough memory to start

Finally if I install IQ 12.7 on SuSE 11SP3 (not certified) the installation succeeds but asiqdemo or even utility cannot start with the message

E. 10/09 09:06:17. Not enough memory DBSPAWN ERROR: -876 Client out of memory Not enough memory Server failed to start

What is the upgrade path we should follow?

Should the upgrade take place on a machine where IQ 12.7 and IQ 16 are both compatible?

thank you for your answer, I am already aware of these KBAs and the manuals of course. The problem on SuSE 11SP3 (and also earlier SPs) is that iqunload from IQ 16 does not succeed. On SP3 even IQ 15.4 fails

    Thank you a lot again

    Best regards,

    Hi,

I think the data migration is an another way to move IQ12.7 to IQ16.

    1) Extract Data as sam file to shared file system or enough space of storage.
    2) Extract the DDL, option, user info etc...
    3) Create New IQ16 on SUSE
    4) Migrate Data using load table statement.

    Best Regards,
