Excel Registry Message when using MDM Import Manager

Guys, I get the following message when importing an Excel file using the MDM Import Manager:

"Because of a bug in Excel, the Import Manager must change the value of a windows registry setting in order to determine the data type of each column. If the setting is not changed, some Excel source data values maybe ignored or truncated, or their data improperly converted.

Specifically, the TypeGuessRows DWORD value of the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFWTARE\Mircosoft\Jet\4.0\Engines\Excel key must be changed from its current value of 8 to 0.

Would you like the import manager to automatically change the setting."

Does anybody have suggestions what might be causing this?

    Hi Khuram

I also faced the same problem.Just copy your source worksheet into another worksheet. Now delete the old worksheet and import with the new worksheet. This solved my problem.

    Thanks

    Hi Khuram,

The error that you are getting will make no effect while importing. U can continue with the importing of records into MDM.

    Thanks and Regards

An Excel spreadsheet is not an updateable data source, so certain MDM Import Manager operations cannot be performed when importing from Excel.

In addition, because an Excel spreadsheet does not have an associated

schema that defines the data type of each column, the Jet driver used to

connect to Excel has several additional limitations that must be

addressed by the MDM Import Manager:

    • Empty columns:- The Jet driver may incorrectly conclude that a

    spreadsheet column is empty.

    • Data types:- If the column is not empty, Jet may incorrectly determine

the data type of the values in the column.

    • Mixed data types:- If the column contains both numeric and text

values, Jet will return NULL for values of the minority data type.

The third problem is overcome internally by the MDM Import Manager in

the way it connects to the Jet driver, and does not require any changes

    to your system.

However, the MDM Import Manager can overcome the first two

problems only by changing the value of a Windows registry setting,

which it offers to do for you automatically the first time you connect to an

    Excel data source.

MDM offers to automatically change Windows registry setting.

(If you do not allow the MDM Import Manager to change the

registry setting, some Excel source data values may be ignored or

truncated, or their data type improperly converted.)
