Duplicate Check with ELM in CRM

Is that possible to write function module to do Duplicate Check with ELM in CRM 5.2 ?

It seems there is a BAdI interface in Define Execution of Steps in IMG, but I'm not sure that it could be used. SAP documentation mentioned that third party tool must be used.

Would someone knows about this?

Hi,

it may be possible but there may be complex logic and algorithm behind a duplicate check so it may not be so simple to do the design as well as to develop the function. same thing why BW is separated with CRM/ECC, another concern may be the over-run performance of the CRM server that is not tailored for this purpose. as the performance may be dropping, the core CRM functionalities running may be hurt as well. then for these reasons, the third party engine may have specialization in this area.
