local workflow help needed

Hello everyone.

I have been exploring around with local workflow but it seems not working.

I have had read the blogs posted by Ginger Gatling with the url below:

/people/ginger.gatling/blog/2005/11/28/new-workflow-features-in-netweaver-04--local-workflows

But the workflow trace with message (logically deleted) appear when I am reaching the local workflow step.

Could anyone give some simple tutorial on how to make the local workflow ' works' ?

Hello Martin,

The local wf still cannot work. When I check the graphical log, the wf does not branch out to the local wf (green lines/route taken). Do you I need to do some sort of binding among containers in order to trigger the local wf?

Hi Liew,

Did you check my page? Because the local workflow is not embedded in the local workflow, but is in top right hand corner of the workflow builder. And as described on my page (I think it should be clear which steps should be taken, if not let me know so I can improve it) you trigger the local workflow by raising a local event in the workflow.

Hello Martin,

I did visit your page and did what as directed. Ya, the local workflow is on the top right hand corner. I can trigger the local workflow.

Now the problem is, the local workflow task somehow, is logically deleted/skipped/without executing and the processing continues with the main workflow.

You can download and have a look at my print screen using this link:

Hi Liew,

When you start a local workflow, the main workflow will continue and not wait. When the main workflow is finished any items in the local workflow still open will be logically deleted. So I am guessing you executed the last decision task in your main workflow before the on in the local workflow, and thus ending the workflow.

If you need the local workflow to be executed but the main workflow shouldn't wait for it, you could set a wait for event step in a paralel branch of the workflow and set it as 2 out of 2. You can then wait for a local event which will be triggered from the local workflow.

If the main workflow should not continue, then I would suggest to use a subworkflow or just put the steps in the main workflow.

Martin

Hello Martin,

Thanks alot. Problem solved.

Actually, there is no need a fork. Just add the wait event is sufficient.

Hi Liew Han Yean,

I made a first attempt at creating a page on how to create a local workflow. You can find it here. Check it out and let me know what you think about it. Also if you have any questions let me know.

Regards,

Martin
