Hi Sekar,
SMSY - is the transaction to define Solution Manager SYstem landscape.
In this transaction you can define what are all the systems that form part of the SAP project under development. All these systems need to be connected to Solution Manager via RFC connections.
Once this is done, all those systems can be monitored and administered from Solution Manager. Solution Manager projects can be created to manage SAP Projects involving those systems. Transports in those systems can be controlled from Solution Manager system and lot more.
So, for everything setting up the Solution Manager SYstem landscape in SMSY transaction is the base.

SMSY - System Landscape
In Solution Manager, SMSY is used to define your SAP system(s) in the System Landscape. You create project landscapes, solution landscapes, logical components etc.,
