Every modeller I know with real experience of PowerDesigner dislikes being told to use a different tool.
Is that how you feel? If so, which PowerDesigner features do you think make PowerDesigner really stand out compared to another tool? Which tool are you comparing it to?
For example, here are a couple of comparisons with ERwin Data Modeller, based on my copy of ERwin 9.6.01:
- ERwin has a feature called the Bulk Editor, which is similar to PowerDesigner's List Report, and the simple list of objects. The key difference is that ERwin only allows you to have one 'bulk editor' winodw open at a time, whereas PowerDesigner allows you to open many at the same time.
- The PowerDesigner object sheet allows you to view and edit all the properties of a table or entity through a single dialogue. So, you can edit the entity description and edit attributes through one dialogue. With ERwin there are three separate dialogues you have to use - the entity properties, the list of attributes, and the list of keys; only one of these can be open at a time.
