    Hi Rahul,

    A1:

    we have three different updates

    chk this note:

In V1 update, when you post a document in the system, it simultaneously gets posted into the tables as well as it's a synchronous update mode.

V2 update: In this update mode the time of posting a document in the system and the tables is not same but u need not to schedule the job also. The posting of document in the tables can take place later in different tasks.

V3 update: This update mode requires scheduling of job manually and it is same as V2 update.

    also chk this blog

    /people/sap.user72/blog/2004/12/16/logistic-cockpit-delta-mechanism--episode-one-v3-update-the-145serializer146

LIS is old technique through which we can load the data. Here we use typical delta and full up-loading techniques to get data from an logistics application, it uses V1 and V2 update, it means that it was a synchronous or asynchronous update from the application documents to LIS structures at the time when the application document was posted.

LO Cockpit is new technique which uses V3 which is an update that you can schedule, so it does not update at the time when you process the application documents, but it will be posted at a later stage.

now answering your query on communication structure

in Lo the flow looks something like this

When you create, change or delete documents in the applications, the resulting data is staged online in LIS communication structures(previously from LIS communication structures, data was transfered to information structure using LIS).but in Lo, data is transferred from the LIS communication structure to extract structures, and then to a central delta management area (using different delta method i.e direct delta, queued delta ,iunseralized v3 update, chk the below blog). So, delta management acts as a buffer for data that can be requested from the BW via an infopackage with the update mode "delta upload".

so what we have understood here is communication structure is present..but the focus is how the data was taken from the communication structure(refer above line)

    Hi Rahul,

LIS is old technique through which we can load the data. Here we use typical delta and full up-loading techniques to get data from an logistics application, it uses V1 and V2 update, it means that it was a synchronous or asynchronous update from the application documents to LIS structures at the time when the application document was posted.

LO Cockpit is new technique i think from bw 3.0 ( i am not sure) which uses V3 which is an update that you can schedule, so it does not update at the time when you process the application documents, but it will be posted at a later stage.

Another big difference between LO and LIS is that,

You have separate datasources for header level, item level and schedule line level available in LO, you can choose at which level you want to extract your data and switch off others, which results in reduced data.

we do not have this flexibility with LIS structures

with Plug-In 2001.2 S2xx-Structures have been replaced by Logistics Extraction Cockpit. However, R/3 releases 4.x support S2xx-Structures and Logistics Extraction Cockpit in parallel.

With new LBWE extractors there are a lot of benefits:

    - Detailed Extraction: extraction can be deactivated (e.g. Schedule Line Data) leads to leaner extractors with less volume.

Document Changes: only BW-relevant data changes will be updated (less upload volume).

    - LIS-Tables are not updated reduced data volume due to avoided redundancy.

    - Update with Batch-Process (V3) -> no load on daily business (but now there are available different delta methods as the direct delta...)

    - No LIS-Know How necessary.

    - Functional Enhancements easy to be done.

    - Central, uniform maintenance tool for logistics applications (LBWE)

    - No Delta-Tables (SnnnBIW1/-2) no double update, no double Data-Storage

    - A lot of flows are covered: Purchasing,Inventory Controlling, Shop Floor Control, Quality Management, Shipment, Sales, Shipping, Billing, Plant Maintenance, Customer Service, Retailing....

    Steps for LO EXTRACTION.

    R/3 SIDE

    1. RSA5 (Transfer Data Sources)

    2. RSA6 (Check Data Sources)

    3. LBWG (Delete setup table)

    4. RSA3 (Check for 0 records)

    5. OLI7BW (Fill set up table)

    6. RSA3 (Check records in extract checker)

-> LBWE must be activated before OLI7BW, SCHEDULE JOB CONTROL.

    BW SIDE

    1. RSA1-> SOURCE SYSTEM->REPLICATE DATASOURCE

2.Click Infosource and assign data source and source system

    3. Create infopackage & give the data target and schedule.

    4. Monitor the load and check the cube.

    Hi ,

LIs is the obsolate method of ectracting the data

now we are using lo extraction for extracting logistic data from r/3

    differences between LIS & LO

      thanks alot Swapna..

but can u also help[ me in V3 update things..

and mah cofusion is that like i read i.e

Unlike the LIS update data is transferred from the LIS communication structure, using extract structures (e.g. MC02M_0HDR for the header purchase documents), into a central delta management area.

are we still u sins LIS comm struct and if yes .. how ..?

      thankin u in advance

will reward this with good points

      thankin you again..

      regards

      Rahul
