    Hi,

SAP XI (also can say PI) is an SAP EAI tool, that is use for SAP and Non-SAP Integration.

Yes, if you know ABAP it is very advantagious..like in SAP XI there is a functionality called ABAP Mapping(Use to transform input message to destinatino type). Also there are lot of ABAP stuff in XI:)

    Thanks

    Farooq.

    Hi,

Being an ABAPer if you have a good knowledge of ALE, IDOC, RFC & BAPI then definetily you can jump into XI world (if not then also u cna jump:))

Since XI (PI) is a middleware & it sits between two or more than two systems, therefore it plays role as 1:1 or 1:N & vice-versa. The meaning is that XI can serve to many legacies (it can be Sap or None Sap system) at a single time.

For example, it can send the data from R/3 to Legacy System (one or many) and also vice-versa.

Most of the time Scenarios in XI are File to File, File to IDOC, IDOC to File, File to Porxy, Proxy to File etc...

    Regards,

    Sarvesh

    Hi

SAP-XI is a middleware. It is an Integration platform and Technology just like any other EAI(Enterprise Application Integration).

But you can learn XI if you have knowledge of SAP ABAP.

In fact a knowledge of both Java and ABAP is required for SAP-XI.

You can really go for learning XI since you are saying you are aquainted with ABAP.

XI is quite in demand these days.Prospects of XI
