Hi,
I have downloaded the files and started with the installation but encounter the following error.
Unable to determine parameter "DNS domain name". DNS domain name is not configured in resolv.conf (UNIX) or the registry (Windows) and neither getaddrinfo nor gethostbyname could retrieve it. Failed action: with parameters Error number 301 error type SPECIFIC_CODE

Installation of NPL failed, please check logifiles in /tmp/sapinst_instdir for possible root cause.
I have already done an entry for hostname in /etc/hosts for the user vhcalnplci.
Requesting some help.
Thanks.
...Also: Are any of you using SWPM? If so, you can't, tbh. The developer edition is not designed for SWPM; SWPM simply is not expecting a developer edition.
Please follow the step-by-step guide:
Installing ABAP AS 751 SP02 on Linux. and let me know how you get on.
Best wishes Julie.

Hi H Shah, hi all,
I am looking into this. In the meantime, have you checked your DHCP settings?
Solution: Set Hostname via DHCP" to "NO"
(Background: “depending on your DHCP setup, the operating system may change the host name - which means that vhcalnplci is no longer configured locally.”)
If that fails, can you please check your sapinst*.log files and send us the error messages, - PLEASE not the whole thing.
Thanks to Yelena for your intervention, (though it seems to have fallen on deaf ears).
Best wishes
Julie.

Hi Ginny,
did you solve that issue? i'm having the same problem, but i also don't have access to see that SAP note...
I use VirtualBox with openSUSE leap 42.3 and followed the newbie guide step-by-step... can anyone help?
thanks
*edit:
Hey, i solved that issue. try to change your host file entry to: 10.0.2.15 vhcalnpli.dummy.nodomain vhcalnpli (you can see the correct syntax in your hostfile, it is <IP address> <FQDN> <short-hostname>). That helped me 🙂
You can also check my comment for further information at the Newbies Guide.

Hi all,
I am having the same problem, but as a SAP 'P_Authenticated' user I don't have access to see SAP note ##2502022 - only S_Authenticated allowed. Would it be possible to get an answer to this problem here?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am new to this and don't have enough knowledge of how DNS works between the Host OS and the Guest. I have been following the great instructions on the 'Newbies guide to installation' and everything worked perfectly up to this point!!

Hello,
Please send SWPM version (sapinst -v) and what operating system is this?
