NetWeaver Composition Environment NWA - Create Destination error

Hi!

I tried to create a Destination in the NWA in order to connect to a SAP system. Hitting the "Ping Destination" button resuls in the following error message:

Error during ping operation: Connect to SAP gateway failed Connect_PM TYPE=A ASHOST=mysapsystem.de SYSNR=28 GWHOST=mysapsystem.de GWSERV=mysapsystem PCS=1 LOCATION CPIC (TCP/IP) on local host with Unicode ERROR service ? unknown TIME Wed Nov 14 13:44:58 2007 RELEASE 710 COMPONENT NI (network interface) VERSION 39 RC -3 DETAIL NiErrSet COUNTER 13

My system configuration:

Virtual PC 2007 with Windows Server 2003 SP2

NetWeaver Composition Environment 7.1. SR1 Trial (from the website)

MaxDB 7.1

I'm able to ping the SAP system from the command line out of the Virtual PC. I haven't set any proxies when I installed the CE. Does anyone has experiences using a Virtual PC system which connects to a external SAP source?

Thanks, Kevin

The problem does not occur with CE 7.1 SR3!

Hi,

I set up another system in order to get the Composition Environment connected to the SAP system:

Windows Server 2003 Standard SP 2

NetWeaver Composition Environment 7.1 SR3

I go to NetWeaver Administrator -> Destinations and create a new destination.

Pressing "Ping Destination" returns:

Error during ping operation: Connect to SAP gateway failed Connect_PM TYPE=A ASHOST=mysapsystem.de SYSNR=28 GWHOST=mysapsystem.de GWSERV=mysapsystem PCS=1 LOCATION CPIC (TCP/IP) on local host with Unicode ERROR hostname mysapsystem.de unknown TIME Fri Nov 16 09:52:16 2007 RELEASE 710 COMPONENT NI (network interface) VERSION 39 RC -2 MODULE ninti.c LINE 895 DETAIL NiPGetHostByName: mysapsystem.de not found SYSTEM CALL getaddrinfo COUNTER 2

It is possible to perform a standard and a RFC ping to mysapsystem.de from the Windows command line.

Hi Kevn,

Have you tryied with the IP address instead of the hostname? maybe you need to update the host and services file.
