Hi Experts,

We are doing PI system "Inplace" upgrade from PI 7.0 to PI 7.4 dual stack.

Once if the dev system is upgraded to PI 7.4 , If in case if we want to transport any emergency changes to Prod( which is on PI 7.0) , can we transport the objects or tpz from PI 7.4 to PI 7.0.( Any SAP Note for the same?).

Also, Please let us know the Impacts/Risks for "Inplace" upgrade if any? Also , please provide me the steps that need to be performed if any?

Hi Raghu,

Thanks for your reply.

For Eg, any Mapping changes that will come in future till Prod gets upgraded to 7.4

Regards,

Ram.

Hello Ram,

Mapping changes should not ideally affect provided you don't have any Java mappings or jars files.

I would suggest you to do the changes in both PI 7.0(this can be transported to PI 7.0 prod)and PI 7.4 development till you completely upgrade to 7.4

Hello Ram,

You have any quality box in place?

And what kind of mapping scenarios are expected to be changed? Like you have java mapping or any Jar files?

Hi Raghu,

Yes,we have quality system.

And most of the mappings are Graphical with some UDFs.

Hello Ram,

In that case you can keep the quality system as development in case if any changes are required.

For example:If you do any changes in Dev try importing it in Quality if any issues comes do the same change In quality and move it to prod.

In this way business continuity shouldn't be affected.
