Hi,

I am a bit confused. If I upgrade my old SAP system to SAP ECC6.0 with unicode what all languages will it support? Will it support all languages or do I need to still implement code pages of that language?

Regards,

David

Once your system is Unicode, you can enter all languages in the system.

However, you will need to make sure though:

- the langauge is installed on the client (codepages)

- the used font is NOT "Arial Monocondensed" (that font doesn´t have letters from all languages)

Thanks Markus.

But what all languages will the system support. My original system has 1100 code page implemented (Which doesnt support chinese). Now if I upgrade the system to ECC6.0 with Unicode, can I enter chinese text into my system or do I need to implement some other code page for chinese?

First: The upgrade + unicode are TWO steps. You prepare your orignal system, upgrade, you export the system using R3load (and thus convert) and then import the system again as Unicode system in a Unicode database. After that the system will using a Unicode codepage (4103 or 4102, depending on your OS and processor).

Yes - you can enter Chinese, Arabian, you can write Devenagari, Korean and Cyrillic and save that in the database. No need to install codepages on the server. If you want to logon and work with that language on the frontend you still need to import the language from the SAP CDs. But data of other langauges can be stored independently of this.

However, you will, as said, make sure, that the necessary codepages and fonts are installed on the CLIENTS (SAPGUI-PCs) to enable them to display.
