Hi Experts,
I am preparing a ABAP system copy and would like to use the "table split" function (Oracle PL/SQL splitter SAP note 1043380).
But but a sentence of the System Copy Guide is not clear to me (same sentence in SAP note 952514):
"The export and import has to be performed with the Migration Monitor when the table splitting feature is used. (to guarantee correct processing order of the split packages) !"
Does this mean manually launching the Migration Monitor ? (although it is now integrated into the SWPM, meaning that the integrated Migration Monitor would not be able to handle the split Table situation ?)
Does this also mean that we can dispense with the Migration Monitor if we do not use the table split function ?
Thank you for your help.
Best regards
Marc
Dear Hendrik,
Thank you for this answer, it's now OK for the table splitting tool to use.
But the question about which Migration Monitor to use (in case of use of table splitting feature) remains :
- the "integratred" Migration Monitor of SWPM (NOT selecting the option "Start Migration Monitor manually")
- or the "external" Migration Monitor (selecting the option "Start Migration Monitor manually")

From my initial question :
"The export and import has to be performed with the Migration Monitor when the table splitting feature is used. (to guarantee correct processing order of the split packages) !"

Hi Marc,
there is a misconception of the meaning of the option.
No matter what you choose at "Start Migration Monitor manually", it is always in reference to the same tool -
the Migration monitor which is integrated into SWPM.
This option only allows for either migmon to be started and executed by SWPM or (manually) by you.
For more information, read the user guide for it which comes with the SWPM and can be found in folder
\COMMON\INSTALL in file MIGMON.SAR. Extract this SAR archive and you will have the PDF user guide
for the migration monitor.
The 'Oracle specific PL/SQL Splitter' is as said, an alternative tool only for Oracle databases.
Note 1043380 mentions this in the text.
Hendrik
Dear Marc,
the 'Oracle specific PL/SQL Splitter' is different to R3ta which can also be used for table splitting.
In one of the dialogs of SWPM you are being asked which splitting option and tool you want to use.
If you want to go with the 'Oracle specific PL/SQL Splitter', select this option.

Hendrik
