Where is the Depreciation Method defined?

Hi

I am trying to figure out where the Depreciation method is defined.

I found the Depreciation Key, but it doesn't seem that the Depreciation method (linear etc.) is defined there.

I would appreciate it when you could help me out here.

What I don't understand, where is the link between Deprecation Key (left side) and the different methods (right side).

Where is it defined that for a specific asset, a specific depreciation method should be used?

I assumed this would be linked with the depreciation key.

Hi Mike,

Depreciation methods (linear etc as we have studied in theory) are maintained as Base Method and Declining Balance method inside a Depreciation Key. These methods are defined in SPRO configuration of Asset Accounting.

Hi Mike - assuming you are using Fixed Assets, you can display the asset going to AS03, the depreciation area tab, double click on the "Dkey" and it should take you to more details on the depreciation key - below is straight line.
