How to handle maintenance notifications from a maint. plan, assign to maint. package

Hello PM friends,
I have two related questions about maintenance notifications, created by a maintenance plan.

My maintenance strategy looks like this

Question 1) How can I assign an maint. item to a specific package e.g. only package "2" ?

It seems, that this is only possible, by maintenance orders/activities in combination with a task list. Am I right ? Is there a possibility to influence this by BAdI or customer exit ?

Question 2) How can I influence the description of the resulting notification ?

The notification description is copied from the maintenance item including the long text, e.g. my maintenance item looks like this:

The scheduled notification looks like this:

This is ok ... but depending to the strategy I need to have this:

Package => Item => Text of maintenance doings

1 =======> 1 ===> Text: wash + clean (continuous doings)

2 =======> 2 ===> Text: wash + clean + oil + check + care (all doings)

Depending to the strategy I would like to have:

a) one notification per 1000 hrs with text 1, generated by package 1

b) one additional notification per 5000 hrs with text 2, generated by package 2

Is this possible to generate ?

If not: is there a possibility to influence the generated text by BAdI or customer exit during scheduling ?

Of course this scenario is possible by maint. orders if you split this in two activities, assigned to the two packages. But orders are totally oversized to our needs ...

Thanks for answering !

Best regards,

Markus

    You can assign task list to maintenance item for maintenance item with call object notification and the system behave similarly.

    Both your questions can be solved by:

    1. defining 2 task lists, A & B, with only 1 operation

    2. assign the operation of A to packge 01 only and assign B to 02

    3. define 2 maintenance items under your plan with different item descriptions and assign A to 1st item, B to 2nd item

    4. Schedule your plan and Bingo!

    • Hi Derek,

      sorry for late answering. Today we had a bigger PM workshop with our SAP PM consultant and we tested your suggestion in our team. Your answer was faster than our team meetings :-)

      ==> Yes, this is a helpful working workaround. Thank you very much.

      In parallel I enhanced the development system in a specific way, that you can now assign a maintenance item to a package directly. This looks like this:

      Now we are discussing about the pros/cons of "your" SAP standard solution or the enhanced solution.

      In the enhanced solution you need not to maintain an additional task list ... which is a big reduction of the maintenance effort in our case. Just maintenance plan and items with the texts assigned to a specific package.

      But thank you again for your helpful answer ...

      Best regards

      Markus

      P.S. If someone is interesting about this solution: I used

      • Customer Exit IPRM0003, add User field: Maintenance plan

        and some additional enhancement points to filter the assigned packages of the items. :-)
