Trade Management - Extending SAPUI5 promotion header

Hi all,

I am working on my first Trade Management project and finding several stoppers related to UI5 which used to happen to me over 10 years ago when CRM WebUI appeared. As a CRM consultant, I have wide technical and functional experience and, out of SAP world, I do have deep experience with web/cloud-related languages (HTML, CSS, jQuery, JS, etc.) So if my requirement would be in WebUI, it would be easy but as it is on SAPUI5, it is not (yet!).

My requirement is to extend Promotion header with a few custom fields. These fields should be shown as drop-down and the admissible values should be retrieved from customizing tables. Based on the values picked on the drop-downs, additional custom fields (string type) should be enabled/disabled or, even, become mandatory fields.

My idea of the approach to carry on is to use AET to extend backend data model. My initial question would be: (1) are all the settings that I configure on AET taken into account automatically when extending UI5 screen? i.e. check tables, drop-down options, translations, etc.

Once data model is extended, I should create an application project on Eclipse and start working on my fragments. My next question would be: (2) should I download any code source or just create a blank app and then deploy the required files?

The final doubts I have are:
(3) how to handle enabling/disabling of the fields?
(4) how do I "inform" the view that values from drop-downs should be gathered from a custom db table?

I have been looking into this file (SAP Trade Management extension framework doc) which seems to be exactly what I need but need further clarifications as per my questions.

Thanks in advance.
