1) Yes, this is one of the workflow tables. It holds information about work items (as its description probably indicates - but I do not have access to SAP right now)

2) You can change it. You just need to know how. The normal way is to let SAP's workflow runtime engine take care of this, as it will be changed to complete when the corresponding work item is completed. If you want to cancel a workflow the correct procedure is to delete it logically (go to the top work item of the workflow, display it in the technical view and go to edit mode, and delete the workflow logically from there). If you want to change the status using a program you should use one of the SAP_WAPI_* function modules. There are several, depending on what exactly you wish to achieve.

3) The A is for agent (person who executes/completes the work item), and the Cr is for creator.

4) Do you mean to ask if any of the fields can tell you if the workflow is running normally, or do you mean to ask if any of the fields can tell you why the workflow is not running normally? The status field can give you a hint (ERROR), but the transactions for monitoring are safer. For instance, a work item without agent is not in ERROR status. Normally it is in the workflow you will find the reason if a work item is in ERROR status.
