Process Chain: Delta to Cube Fail

Hi All, I am using a process chain which has the following sequence: Start>>Delete Data in ODS>>Full load to ODS>>Delta to CUBE

Before running the process chain I manually loaded ODS & did a manual init to Cube. Then tried to run process chain, it fail while loading to cube, with a message that "Check: No successful initialization of the delta update took place". I checked before running the process chain, the schedules has the entry for the init request. I guess when the ODS data is deleted the init entry from the schduler get deleted.

The reason I delete ODS is because each day full loads keep getting accumulated & ODS gets fragmented. This was affecting the reporting performance. Now since I have deleted the old full loads out of ODS, reports run faster. But since I delete ODS, I lose the init request for the cube. Is there a work around, to do delete the full loads out of ODS & still do delta to the cubes?

We are on BI 7.0 sp 13. kindly help

thanks

PK

Are you following the Old School Method in 7.0 using Infopackages to load data from ODS to Cube ?

As you are deleting all data in ODS before loading - Delta Capability/Changelog is not being used ...did I miss something here ???

If you are loading new full loads to ODS everytime and updating the same to Cube is the data not doubling up in the Cube ????

If thats not it and you want only the new/latest request to be loaded to the Cube use Deleting Overlapping Request feature for Cube.

If you have been using DTP's Delta DTP to Cube will surely work as Init is not reqd for a Delta DTP.

Lets wait for some experts advises...

Hi Robert, I am using a process chain where I first delete the data in ODS, do a full load & then do a delta to Cube. But when I try to delete data in ODS I lose the init request & I can no longer do delta to Cube, it says to schedule the init first beofe delta.

So since I delete the previous full loads from ODS the data does not double in cube. Also I am using the old data source structure, transfer/update rule etc...

Earlier I was doing full loads to ODS but not deleting, & then delta to Cube, so only delta was getting updated to cube.

Hi PK,

Your previous option is better one. Why you want to delelte data, if you are loading data in overwrite mode. Its better to load in overwrite and push delta to cube. or if you want delete data, delete using ABAP program selectively.

Hope it Helps
