PO Requirement Date

Here is the issue -- in this case related to production orders, but effects all items.

Production order is created with commit date of November 15; start date is November 14 based on routing times; lead time for the unit is 13 days. The components of the unit show purchasing that the goods are required on November 14 when in reality the unit can begin production anywhere from 13 days to 1 day before it is due.

We must be missing something in the set up of our components.

How can we set the components up so that purchasing sees the requirement with some sort of buffer before it is actually due.

We know that we can look at scheduling floats, but we are looking for other alternatives.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Kristine

Hi Kristine,

If the routing times only make up one day, yet the unit has a 13 day lead time - is the routing correct?

You can add 'Goods Receipt Processing Time' to the components material master or BOM - telling purchasing the components are needed sooner.

Thank you for the input. The routing time is correct. We have provided additional lead-time for scheduling purposes only.

The Goods Receipt processing time is populated in our test environment for some of the components. However, the results are the same -- if the production order states that it is to begin on December 11, the components are showing demand requirement for December 11. We want the demand on the component side to show 5-10 days before it is actually required. Is this possible?

Thanks,

Kristine
