Hello,
I come across the "BW/4 HANA Starter AddOn" which allows us to operate in different modes like "compatibilty mode" or "BH4 mode".
Is there such a possibility in "Business Suite on HANA" or S/4HANA, too? Customers who use "Embedded BW" and decide to move to a full BW/4HANA system would benefit if they create only BW/4HANA compatible objects from the beginning. Hence it would be great if you could switch "BH4 mode" on and don't need to worry about incompatible objects, like InfoCubes, etc...
Thanks in advance.
Regards
Waldemar
Hello Waldemar
if your S/4 is based on NetWeaver 7.50 and not higher, you can give it a try to run a Maintenance Task against your S/4 System as stated in this Blog - On the Road to BW/4HANA – first stage accomplished
Hence I assume that S/4 will be recognized as an "Add-On" on top of NetWeaver 7.50, and to install the BW/4 HANA Starter Add-On, the System must not have any Add-On's installed
Best Regards Roland

Hello Frederic,
thanks for your reply.
I see that it is not the recommended approach of building a whole EDW within Embedded BW. But as already mentioned, it might be possible that customers want to persist some data directly in Embedded BW and maybe move later to BW/4HANA. For this case it would be good, if they had saved their data already in BW/4HANA compatible objects, like aDSO. Currently in Embedded BW you can create the "old" objects like InfoCubes, too.
What I am asking for is a switch in Embedded BW (S/4HANA or Suite on HANA) to disallow creating old objects, similarly to the BH4-Mode in a BW system. Does anybody heard about such an option?
Regards
Waldemar
