Unable to find all HANA views in Analysis for Excel

Former Member

Hi

I have logged on to Analysis for Excel with my BW credentials.

When selecting a Data Source and I search for HANA views I do not see all the Analytic and Calculation views that have been created under the same package.

I do have access to _SYS_BIC schema and can see the views in the 'Column Views' folder.

I have checked all the properties and compared the views I can find in Analysis against the views I can't find and everything is the same - including the Data Category set as 'CUBE"'.

What am I missing that I can't find all HANA views?

Hi,

Check Data Category in your HANA Views.

Supported Data Categories for Calculation Views:

I had the same issue the other day. In HANA studio there were 2 calculation views under package xxx.yyy. In my BO (connected to BW) I saw only one calculation view. Apparently, you have to search in two ways.

a) search for the package or

b) search for the description you have given to your calculation view (semantics node --> Tab View Properties --> General)

With the help of b) I was able to find the calculation view I expected to find with a)

Hi Anton,

If you logon to BW application layer, you will not see HANA objects.
To access them you should create a connection in BO and then logon with BO credentials. If you don't have a BO installation then you should create an Open ODS View and connect it to your HANA views.

Hi Erdem

Thanks for the reply, but I don't agree with you.

As per my initial post, I can find and execute some HANA views in Analysis, but others don't appear when I search for them - even though they are created under the same package and the properties are all the same.

If you're logging on to HANA with your BW credentials, that's fine. Then we should investigate the restrictions for the views you're looking for.

However if you logon to BW directly, then please share a screenshot of the views that you see in info areas.
