truncating characteristic in Bex

Dear All,

I need to display short code as first letter of the Code. Is there anyway i can do that in Bex . I don't want to do that at update rule level.

for eg. code is 1abc2, then i should display short code as 1. Is it possible?

Hi Riya,

Try to create fomula Variable with processing tab : Replacement path and choose offset start and offset length.

Steps :

Query --> New formula --> Formula variable --> Variable with replacement path.
