Unable to display geoJSON map -Design Studio 1.6

Getting started with Geo map feature but the goJSON file doesn't show the map with any datasource. Below are the steps I followed to recreate the issue with BYOD extn.

1. Create simple custom geoJSON file from geojson.io geomap-geojson.png

2. Modified BYOD template to add regions(byod.png).

3. Not able to see Geomap geomap.png

Let me know what am I missing to achieve the desired map feature. Appreciate any inputs.

Can you share SP of Design Studio 1.6 - is it SP3, SP4, etc.

Can you try it without the BYD component?

Can you upload/share geoJson?

Hi Gaurav,

A couple of points:

1. From your screenshots, it looks like you have defined the regions in your geoJSON file as points rather than polygons. I don't think that's supported by the Geo Map component. Can you try defining your regions as polygons instead?

2. The following discussion about using the BYOD data source with the Geo Map component may also be helpful: https://archive.sap.com/discussions/thread/3825728

Mustafa.

Hi Mustafa,

Thanks for stepping in. It shows same behavior with polygons also.

Screenshots attached. geomap1.png and poly-jason.png. You can use the below link to review geojson file if you wish.

Hi Gaurav,

I tried your geojson file and was able to reproduce the issue. Strangely, even the custom geojson file I used in the discussion I referenced above is no longer working either. It's possible this might be a problem with the BYOD data source extension. Is there any chance you can try with a BW BEx or Universe data source?

Mustafa.

Thanks Mustafa.

Tried with BW datasource however it still doesn't show up but the area just becomes opaque. The column used in BW matches with geojson map as required.

Is there any other map type that I should try?

Hi Gaurav,

Can you post screenshots of the following?:

1) Initial View of BW Data Source

2) Map Layer Configuration Panel

3) Application UI at design-time and run-time

Thanks,

Mustafa.

Hi Gaurav,

In the Initial View of your data source, can you try removing the Department dimension from the rows so that only the Region dimension remains?

Hi Mustafa,

I removed Department dimension to match number of rows in DS with goejson map column for Region. Output is attached.designtime-scren.png

Thanks.

Can you also make sure the map layer properties have not been reset as a result of the Initial View change? If they have you should reconfigure the map layer accordingly.

No Mustafa. The properties are same.

Hi Gaurav,

In that case, unfortunately I have run out of suggestions. Unless others have further ideas, you may wish to open an SAP Support Ticket.

Regards,

Mustafa.

Hi Mustafa,

Thanks so much for all the suggestions. Will take it up to SAP support and update with my findings.
