Search Term in Customer Master...!

Hi all,

As I checked in XD03, "search term 1" has length of 20 CHAR and you can actually put and see 20 CHAR. If we check the same in table KNA1, it shows only 10 CHAR because KNA1-SORTL has length of 10 CHAR only.

If table has field of 10 CHAR only, where the other 10 chars are saved and can be seen in XD03/2/1?

What if we want to see or use KNA1-SORTL with complete value, if the value is more the 10 CHAR long?

Thanks a lot.

Br,

It is very easy to find where the data is stored:

Go to XD02 in a test system, enter search term for a customer with 20 characters and save.

Then go to SA38 and run program RSSCD100 for your user ID (remove object class from the selection and restrict only by date/time/user).

You will get the list of change documents for this customer - you can easily see in which table and field this is stored and with what key you can retrieve the information.

You can of course get this from XD03->account changes, but I find it easier to use the report, because you get the key fields right away.

You can use this technique for any field and process as long as the system generates change documents. Normally for important master data such as products and customers/vendors this is the case.
