Undelivered PO...what happens to Req?

Hi,

I wanted to confirm something.

If I have a Requisition for 10, I convert this PO to 10 but the vendor only delivers 8 and he will not be delivering any more for whatever reason. Am i right in assuming if i click on the delivery indicator in the PO that should be it?

I have been asked questions by users saying we should be changing the quantity of the PO to 8 then changing the req quantity etc.. Should we?

Thanks

You are absolutely right.

You do not have to change the PO quantity to 8 and the PR quantity to 8. You have to change the PO quantity to 8 ONLY if you want to place an order for the remaining 2 on another vendor.

Hi,

It depends upon the business requirement.

If the real requirement is 10, and if the vendor whom you placed order for 10 has short delivered 8, and not going to supply any more....

Case 1) If your company is ok with just 8, what you said is fine.

Case 2) You have a demand for that material of 10 Qty. So, where is the question of vendor controlling your company's requirements? If that guy doesn't supply full 10, you will any way have to look for another supplier. In such a case, the practical scenario requires your requisition be reopened for the remaining 2 so that you can convert that 2 qty to PO from some other vendor. In this case, your requisition's open quantity of 2 (by reducing the PO qty to 😎 can be created as a PO on another vendor.

Hope, this helps!
