Hi All
I have some generic questions regarding forecasting, i need to do foecasting based on past 12 months of data, do automatic model selection and based on service level i need to calculate safety stock and reorder point.....
1. how to load past consumption values in forecasting tab of material master, is there any standard way (any function modules, exits etc) or should i be doing it via lsmw.
2. what mrp type would be ideal to do the above case.
3. if any one has some documentation on forecast models, like information on smoothing factors, weighting groups etc would be really great (kazinsap@yahoo.com)
points are assured..kindly help me in this regard.
Sam
Hi
You have give consumptional data in material master------ additional data-----consumption.There you gan give you 12 months consumption data.Put MRP type
VV in Mrp1 view.In forecasting view u have to maintain automatic model selection.
reward poind if useful
thanks

Hi Kedar
Thanks for ur prompt reply, i beleive the system updates the consumption values, my problem is that we are creating new storage location and assigning that storage location to MRP AREA, so the forecasting would be carried out in the new storage location. is there any way to load consumption values from old storage location to the new storage location....
Hi,
You will maintain the Forecasting view. In the forecasting view you can enter the past consumption values. MRP type will be VV.
You can upload the data using LSMW/BDC or any other tool. You can use Constatnt,Trend,Seasonal forecasting models depends on the client business.

Hi Murugesan
thanks for ur reply, i have one other question, what are the parameters i need to maintain automatic model selection; would the system give an accurate forecast with automatic model selection rather than manual selection (if so what parameters would be better in automatic rather than manual like error total, MAD etc)...so can the system calculate safety stock and reorder level based on my forecsating run.
