Open Document Link on BI Launchpad doesn´t work anymore

Hello,

my customer upgraded BIP Server to 4.1 SP9 Patch 5 and now the Open Document Links aren´t working anymore...

I am logged in to the BI Launchpad and open the context menu for a Crystal Reports report. The document link is like this:

http://HOSTNAME.DOMAIN:8080/BOE/OpenDocument/opendoc/openDocument.jsp?sIDType=CUID&iDocID=AXZA54Em_z...

When I open the link I get the following error message (please see screenshot attached).

Any Ideas how to fix this? We upgraded the development BI Server to the same version without any issues regarding open document links.

Thank you!

Br,

Mario

Guess it was an issue with the installation itself. After restore and reinstalling the server the access with open document links work fine.

Thank you anyhow!

I'd check the setupengine.log from the upgrade to see if any went wrong. Depending on results different actions could be taken.
Try to re-deploy the webapps (as previously suggested).

Just a guess, but it appears that the deployment of the BOE web application was incomplete or corrupt. I would try re-deploying.

Thanks you for your comments.

1) How to create a new open document with the wizard? When I navigate to a document (e.g. web i Report) in the bi Launchpad - context menu - open document I get the link and try to open it in a new browser session. This results in the error "http Status 404".

2) How to do a http trace? Which tool is used for that? The bi Support tool?

3) The error is http Status 404.

Thank you!

When you create an openDocument link with WebI, does the URL before "/BOE/" look the same as the URL you're using to access BI launchpad?

SP09 replaces Tomcat 7 with Tomcat 8. I haven't installed SP09 yet, but in the past when SPs include an upgraded Tomcat, they just left the old one there but shut down. I'm wondering if you someone have both old instances running (although in your screenshot above it's clearly running 8).

The fact that you're able to access BI launchpad but not openDocument tells me that one of two things is going on:

1) The URL that you're using for openDocument is invalid

2) The deployment didn't work

You've already re-deployed, so if it is a corruption it's somewhere in the war files that are used for the deployment. You might need to open an incident with tech support if this is the case.

HTTP trace can be done using fiddler or any number of other http trace tools freely available.

I didn´t read note 2421948 properly.

Log files are stored in these folders:

4.2: C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\SBOPWebapp_OpenDocument_<ip address>_<port>\

4.1: C:\SBOPWebapp_OpenDocument_<ip address>_<port>\ folder

Anyhow, the problem with HTTP Status 400 is still there...

Mario,

Have you tried to create a new open document via the wizard and test it?

if that's working your installation is okay and you can compare the URL's

HTTP 404 means that something is missing.

Which means the re-deployment didn't work properly or the install/update didn't create all the files needed.
To determine what's missing - HTTP trace might help.

Are you getting a 400 or a 404?

Can you help me to trace the opendocument service? In CMC I changed the Trace Log Level to "High" for the Application "Open Document". Then I retest my problem but no log files appear. Where are they stored?

I checked several notes (e.g. 2421948) but there is no information about where the log files gets created.

Hello,

thanks for your reply. We tried to redeploy everything without success.

The setupengine.log File is also fine, just some warnings which are not relevant (mobile BI).

After redeploying we got a new error message:

I checked sap notes but i cannot find a solution for this one. Any ideas?

Thanks!
