The Oracle catalog scripts didn´t run successfully.

- Do you have all the patches (30+) of note 871735 - Current patch set for Oracle 10.2.0 installed?

- Check the output of ora_sql_result.log

did you completely delete the old database and the old SID? I appears that you want to re-create the old instance...

we deleted the database files, archive files

we commented the SID from the oratab file present in the /var/opt/oracle/ folder

Do you see those errors also if you execute the script manually?

We tried running the catptoc.sql script from sqlplus and we saw the same errors, that prompted us to take the decision of delated the database files and SID

There seems to be some things of your old database left (somewhere).

If this system is critical I suggest opening an OSS call under BC-DB-ORA with priority very high.

Hi Markus thanks for reply,

We decide ti try it once by cleaning the database, can you suggest us what are the steps to do for that like you said cleaning he DB ans SID, such that no more old files should exist.

Delete all datafiles, controlfiles, redo- and archivelogs, also clean the content of $ORACLE_HOME/dbs (not rm -rf * but the relvant files).

Done with all the suggested, and tried again - failed at the same step!

We think there might not be any Oracle database issue, but the sapinst is exited the catproc.sql step.

Is there any manual ways of getting this completed

Appreciate your help

catproc.sql is a database scripts delivered by Oracle.

If you create a new database that script must be run before Oracle will work correctly. What you see is clearly database related (welcome to the world of Oracle!) since you see Oracle errors that are evaluated by sapinst and thus throwing an error status.

Open an OSS call and ask the Oracle competence center people about a fix.

Hi Markus,

We have the backup of the stage where we have completed the Upgrade and not done the uniocde export. Is it possibule to restore the DB which we have on 2nd of NOV. Because we have droped the DB before importing the DB to unicode.

If it is plz suggest us the process to restore..

Thanks,

Hi ,

We got the reply from SAP below is the info:

Kindly please check catproc.log for the error that occurred when

installation ran script catpro.sql.

As per note #582427: Error due to catalog scripts, point 5,

if the problems already occur when you install the Oracle database,

then execute catalog.sql and catproc.sql, regardless of the Oracle

version you are using.

Check the created log files for errors. You can ignore the following

error codes:

ORA-00001 ORA-00900 ORA-00942 ORA-00943 ORA-00955 ORA-01001

ORA-01418 ORA-01430 ORA-01432 ORA-01434 ORA-01435 ORA-01451

ORA-01918 ORA-01919 ORA-01921 ORA-02033 ORA-02261 ORA-02264

ORA-02275 ORA-02289 ORA-02303 ORA-02443 ORA-04043 ORA-06512

ORA-24001 ORA-24006 ORA-29809

Continue with the installation in this way:

1. stop the installation

2. edit 'keydb.xml' - search for 'SAPINST_INST_STATUS' first and

then for 'CDATA[ERROR]' and change exactly this entry to 'CDATA[OK]'

3. rerun the installation and use the option 'continue old installation'

If the issue still occurs, please try using the ORACLE 10.2.2 version

instead of the 10.2.3 .

You are using 10.2.0.3?

No Markus, we are using 10.2 only.

It's working fine now, we have made the change in xml file and closed the installation and reopen and continued with old-installation.
