Setting tenant to Production

Hello Experts,

We have multiple companies in our tenant but they will go-live (will go into production mode) at different point in time.

Let’s say:

  • the company AU01 has go-live date 01.02.2017
  • the company AU02 has go-live date 01.04.2017

Now, having said that, we of course would need to do financial data conversion – to migrate transactional data from legacy environment:

  • for company AU01 - balances will be loaded as closing balance of January (with posting date 31.01.2017)
  • for company AU02 - balances will be loaded as closing balance of March (with posting date 31.03.2017)

Now, the question: at what point in time we can set tenant to “production” status?

From what I know, the system in production status will not allow us to migrate any historical data, please confirm.

If so, we cannot set the production status until the company AU02 will be migrated to SAP BYD – roughly sometime in April 2017 then.

I means that AU01 will be live in SAP BYD and will be running from 01.02.2017 but the system will not be in production mode.

Then, is it good practice to do – to run business and transaction in tenant where system is not in production mode?

Hi Balaji,

YOU CANNOT GO LIVE WITH A TEST TENANT.

You need to get a new production tenant to go-live. Production tenant creation has two possibilities

a. Either you can get a blank/empty production tenant (Initial system).

b. You can get a solution copy in the production tenant (Initial system (Copy solution profile)).

Coming to the historical data part, Please create an incident with the type of data that you want to migrate. We will check the possibility for the same.

Thanks,
