Hi
Can we create a value/quantity contract in CRM or shall I put it this way : after the initial download of contracts from R3, do we continue the creation of contracts in R3 or start creating new contracts in CRM.
Thanks
Patricia

hi
PC,CRM Contracts are replicated to R3 by delta up loading only here you are sending crm contracts( Up loading) to ECC you are not downloading to R3 from CRM remeber that R3 is on High end side and CRM as a Front end(Low End)
Down loading happens from High End( back end) to Front end
Up loading happens from Low End to High End (R3) basic concepts of Up loading between servers

HI
Particia
Problems could occur during up loading the contracts from CRM to R3
1.RO Genaration in CRM then change of sales orders in r3 va02 and document no generation
2. contracts may struck up in middleware use SMw01, Smw02, for bdoc processing and display if you find any blockages in middleware choose the contract number in smw01 and manually unlock the contract number and refresh it
3. some times you need to wait for up loading it's is bcoz of may be your contract is under queue check for Smq1, Smq2, it will be cleared automatically after some time, otherwsie you can use your customised table name to push the contract which will makes up loading process fast.
4. Check also for any struck ups or data flow blockage in Para meter table.
5.if any phisical problems associted with Adapters and plug ins disconnection it's a task of middleware consultant.
6.Unless and until u fulfill all the eligibility norms of creating a contract and mandatory fields contract inception won't happen for ex insurance check, RC details of of a vehicle for giving vehicle loan you must check for all these conditions and then lastly goes to billing
if you have any queries on contracts plz feel free to mail me on my email id
Reward for helpful Notes
Cheers
Venkat
Hi,
R/3 sales contracts can be downloaded into CRM via the initial download and you can create release orders in CRM against those downloaded R/3 contracts. Also these release orders can be uploaded into R/3 for further processing. The only limitation is, you are not allowed to make any changes to downloaded R/3 contracts in CRM.
Delta changes on R/3 contracts will automatically uploaded into CRM. Also release orders created in R/3 against R/3 contracts can also downloaded into CRM only for display purposes.
You can also create contracts in CRM, but there are some knows issues in uploading these contracts into R/3.
If you want to use the same contract across both the systems, then the best practice is to create them in R/3 and download it into CRM
Hope, I have answered your question
Do not forget to reward if it helps,

Hello Paul
Thank you for the swift response.
When you say "known problems" is there a way, I mean source to find out what these problems are so that I could explain the same to the client who is hell bent that the contracts have to be maintained in CRM ?
Your guidance will be appreciated and duly rewarded.
Patricia
Hi Paul please don't misguide the learning people and try to tell them shortcuts which are not good CRM practice you are explaining the way is just to complete the task but as a crm consultant you must be able to give correct solution instead of shortcuts and you are giving customizing answers within the limits of your CRM knowledge,
HI PC Paul's solution is not a Good CRM practioneer's solution it's only a shortcut so it is one type of misgudence he might having more exp on r3 side so he is giving you shortcut,
Solution: but in Actual scenario basically Contract management is the concept of CRM but Not main thing in R3 won't deals with presales and post sales it just deals with sales and shipping and contract management will come into picture after placing the order and long termrelationship between customer and the company.
Bcoz contract management is main concept of CRM when compared to R3
that to you can use r3 contratcs if your client not Implemented crm , but when your client is having CRM you should alaways prefer to create contracts on CRM side and use up load using delta you might be face middleware problems , Struck ups, then you unlock the contracts which are in queue there are so many methods
available and to push contracts from crm to r3 and they are easy also you can use the tables to push fastly into Ecc and execute and see smq1,smq2, smw01, smw02,
if you want to learn crm and wants to expertise as a crm consultant then create contractas in crm only and up load eventhough problems occurs you can solve it's a good practice
if you are looking for a shortcut and just wants to complete the task in any way
then follow Paul way.
CRM contracts only deals with Post sales Activities, R3 is not having any Post sales and contract management concept in depth that is why your client implemented CRM as R3 contracts could not able to meet the business requirements then they will go for CRM
PLEASE FOLLOW THE RIGHT PROCEDURE AS A GOOD CRM PRACTIONEER
Regards
Venkat
