Amit,

You are a brave heart ..and you need to be one while SAP installation !!

Is this your own system ?? or you have some liability ??

If none , you can start from OS installation ..ONLY if you are not able to uninstall stuff cleanly ..Oracle ..that s a real pain in the butt..

Or just go with another OraHome..but be watchful when you install SAP DB ..'cause then it asks for Orahome location ..pick the right one ..there

And ..I had this dispatcher problem too..I and also did uninstall and reinstall 3..4.. times.

(but i do not recommend it now )..

in my successful strike ..i killed all oracle ..all MMC ..all SAP processes from SERVICES..before SAP DB install (you can also try this trick).

I hope things ll work out for you ..

Happiness Always !!

Dear Mandeep,

Thanks for the reply.I had uninstalled everything and also removed all entry from registry. But still failed to install the oracle. As of now i cannot uninstall theOS because i have another application running on it.Thus have to fight with the current one only. Please provide me the steps u followed when u faced this issue.

Waiting for the positive response.

Thanks in advance.

The developer traces are in the work directory of the instance so usually

<letter>:\usr\sap\<SID>\DVEBMGS<instancenumber>\work

Amit, your problem:

main: rdisp/myname=watsonproddmsd_IDS_00 exceeds 20 characters

so, you may need to restart your installation from scratch, use a server name (computername) with 1 less character... your server name appended with "_IDS_00" uses 21 characters.

another poster had the same problem, you can read it at

Thanks Eric,

I had now changed the host name and made sure that it is less than 20 char. As i had restarted my installation after a reboot it has again stuck up at same step with different error.

Does it mean that i have to restart the installation from the start(fresh installation) or as now i had continued with the old installation

I would re-install from scratch because the old servername probably is still in use, and obviously, this won't work.

so, re-install from scratch.

Hi Eric,

I appreciate the patience for helping throughout the issues. As on current status when i tried with all the stop start process i could not solve the issue. Now when i had cleaned the entries of IDS from reg and also all the files tht gt installed during the installation process .Now again i started to install the oracle but while installing im executing the sapserver.cmd from the ora to install the oracle im getting the error :

<b>OUI-10123:Empty oracle home location specified.</b>

As when im executing the sapserver.cmd its not asking drive for the installation of oracle.

As i had also formatted the whole drives

Please guide how should i proceed.

Thanks in advance.
